John Cheesman Jazz Orchestra

John Cheesman is a composer, arranger and drummer. He lives in Toronto, Canada, and grew up in New Brunswick.

He has played with such artists and ensembles as MARTIN SHORT, THE R.C.M.P. BAND, JOAN RIVERS, BANDA BRAVA, and PAUL HORN. He has arranged and conducted featured music for the JUNO AWARDS TV broadcast.
As a composer for TV, he has scored two series featuring DR. DAVID SUZUKI, one a GENIE winner, and two seasons of MIGHTY MACHINES.
John writes all the music for the JOHN CHEESMAN JAZZ ORCHESTRA, a 14-piece labour of love that he leads from the drum chair. The ensemble has appeared nationally on BRAVO! TV, CBC RADIO and the TORONTO JAZZ FESTIVAL.


The Wooden Hill is in the style of Gil Evans, Michael Brecker, Don Ellis, and Maynard Ferguson. Electrifying music with exciting solos using original compositions in different time signatures.
