John MacMurchy is an artist whose principal area of interest has been as a musician and composer. He has produced two CD albums to critical acclaim and international airplay. He has composed for jazz trio, quartet and quintet, the Mike Cado tentet, various big bands and also for string quartet. John also composes choral music. Being fluent in classical and early twentieth century music has led to diverse influences in his music but the compositions are cohesive and original. As a performer he has worked with artists as varied as Henry Mancini, Linda Ronstadt, Guido Basso and Cleo Lane. Silent Partner is MacMurchy’s third album and the second of all original material. It’s evenly split between tenor sax and clarinet. The second CD, Outside The Ministry of Truth, had airplay on something over four hundred radio stations in seven countries and enjoyed critical acclaim: “John MacMurchy is a fleet, accomplished reedman with a knack for writing and arranging. John’s got everything together and balanced out when it comes to tone, technique extraordinaire, and seemingly unending ideas.” “John’s vision of music exudes clarity: of companionship between musicians, of sound, of musical ideas, of concept, of execution, of music. It’s an honest sound that John uses to converse with the listener. Nothing is hidden. It’s all there on the table. Heart. Experience. Life.” PERSONNEL: John MacMurchy – tenor sax/clarinet Mark Kieswetter – piano Dan Ionescu – guitar Ross MacIntyre – bass Daniel Barnes – drums Bruce Cassidy – Flugelhorn and EVI Alan Hetherington – percussion Buy Tickets|
