About the album

What’s amazing about “Off the Road” is Mike Herriott performs on most of the instruments, having overdubbed himself to create the big band sound. This eclectic album, which was officially released in late 2013, features Mike Herriott original compositions as well as original arrangements of the music of Freddie Hubbard, J.S. Bach, and The Who.

The album also features guests Arturo Sandoval, Richard Moore, Achilles Liarmakopoulos (Canadian Brass), and guitarists Sean Harkness, and Bob Sutherby.

Having charted in top-ten jazz-radio lists across Canada, “Off the Road” has received rave reviews. Borrowing from Herriott’s many influences in the musical world, the music visits the sounds of Matheny, Wheeler, Schneider, McConnell, Zappa and hits everything from Bebop to Baroque to Salsa and Swing.

Naturally, to hear it live requires a full band!
